In Houston, Master Planned Communities have been
a success story even during
the dark days of the 1980's
and early 1990's. Jefferson and Johnson Development
recognized the potential
of Southwyck, a nascent community
in Brazoria County's
State Highway 288 corridor
that had floundered along with
its developer despite an
existing 29-acre lake, golf course and club.
Today
that project on 1,000 acres is known as Silverlake,
a pioneer in its location near Pearland. Now complete,
Silverlake once took its place as one of Houston's
top five Master Planned Communities in both sales
and starts. Silverlake includes some 2,500 single-family
residences and 230 acres of supporting commercial
uses. |
